Aureole - Original Painting

Aureole began in my sketchbook inspired by a centipede I had encountered recently. When I let the full composition unfold it felt like a message of Divine protection. The circular portal of light has a divine hand coming out to gently pluck the centipede from the mushrooms. Two little fairy guardians are nearby, perhaps the messengers that called the divine being for help. 

This painting is named Aureole for both the circular portal, as "aureole" is defined as a circle of light representing something as holy or divine, and as a nod to the name of the mushroom species Psilocybe Cubensis sometimes also referred to as "Golden Halo".
